1. How to make writing painless

Dickie Bush recently shared his method to make morning writing sessions feel easier.

We’ve all been there; we set out to write something but staring at a blank page is just too intimidating. This way, it takes way longer than necessary to get the creative juices flowing and pick up momentum.


Here’s what Dickie suggests:

“My morning writing sessions start the night before. Every night before bed, I take a out a journal, set a 3-minute timer, and do the following 3 steps:

  1. Write down 1 idea that’s top of mind to write about
  2. Brain dump 10 bullets on that idea, anything I can think about it onto the page, fast and furious with no judgement
  3. Close my journal and go to bed


Just like that, tomorrow’s writing process has begun. And this nightly brain dump works for 3 reasons:

  1. Brain dumping eliminates friction. Waking up to a list of bullets makes it easy to build momentum, instantly dropping into flow.
  2. Brain dumping allows my subconscious to work overnight. Maybe this is a little “woo woo,” but I always wake up with a better grasp of the idea I went to bed thinking about.
  3. Brain dump clears my head before bed. Often times, I’ll brain dump on more than just the idea I want to write about the next day. I take anything that’s on my mind and dump it onto the page—which leads to relaxing and restful sleep.”


2. Simplest trick to spice up your copy

There’s a simple trick that most educational content creators use to powerfully drive home a message: using metaphors and drawing unexpected parallels from real life.

An example of an absurd real-life situation makes a message so much easier to digest. It also makes it more likely that your content gets saved and shared, as people love re-using metaphors to spice up their conversations or have clarity behind their decision-making.

Here’s a metaphor I love using when advising friends, which (unintentionally) follows the same method: Saying you’re tired but not taking a break is like driving a car that is running low on gas but not stopping to refuel as you’re in a hurry.


3. Legendary marketing blog

Seth Godin doesn’t need an introduction for most marketers. He is a pioneer behind many online marketing theories and the author of best-selling books like “Purple cow,” “This is marketing,” and “All marketers are liars.”

But not many people know about his blog, where he writes daily entries about various topics he’s encountered or thought about. It’s very inspiring how a marketing legend like him can find inspiration and hard-to-spot nuances in regular things he comes across. Furthermore, he can always associate his findings with larger systems, theories, and patterns.

The entries are always eloquently written and offer incredible insights into his brain. If we all noticed, analysed, and learned each day as he does, we could go quite a bit farther in life. I revisit his blog every once in a while to remind myself of that.


4. How to craft a no-brainer offer

I recently discovered a great blog post by Hashim Warren. In it, he delivers a simple formula for creating a no-brainer offer, which is a starting point for most online businesses.

Many people struggle to grasp what goes into building an online business, whereas you really only need 3 things to get up and running: a no-brainer offer, a content strategy, and 1-2 high-paying customers. If you have those in place, you’ve most likely already replaced your 9 to 5 salary and the sky is the limit for how far you can go.

Here’s a great one-pager from Warren’s blog post, explaining how to craft a no-brainer offer that solves an important problem for your potential customers and makes them happy to pay you.
